Elton John Trying to Settle Out-of-Court With Ex-Wife In 1984 Elton John was married to Renate Blauel. They divorced 4 years later. Now she is taking him to court but the two are trying to settle out of court. They have until October 13th. She says his autobiography, Me and his biopic Rocketman seriously misrepresented the nature of their relationship. She is suing for 3 million pounds (3.89 million US) She claims there was an agreement to never discuss their relationship and as a result she has suffered, recurring nightmares, agoraphobia, fear, depression and anxiety.. Elton has denied breaking their agreement and calls the whole thing a cash grab. He said she never complained before when he has said things about their marriage before.
