Britney Spears Speaks Out After Manager Says She May Never Perform Again

If Britney Spears has anything to say about her career, fans will definitely see her back on stage in the near future.

Days after the legendary pop star's longtime manager Larry Rudolph said she may never perform again, amid her alleged on-going mental health battle, Britney released a statement of her own. While shopping with her boyfriend Sam Asghari on Friday (May 17), the 37-year-old singer told paparazzi she most certainly has plans to perform again. "Of course," Britney responded after they asked if she’ll be hitting the stage soon.

As previously reported, earlier this week, Larry told TMZ a different story, saying, "As the person who guides her career — based on the information I and all of the professionals who work with her are being told on a need-to-know basis — from what I have gathered it’s clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency, not in the near future and possibly never again."

Larry's comments came amid the Free Britney movement, a social media campaign that was launched by fans in an effort to "free" Britney from what they believe is her all-controlling conservatorship, which is headed by her father.

Larry also spoked out against the movement in a separate interview, telling Variety the "Free Britney" movement has "no factual basis."

"[Britney] is the one whose focus is on [getting better]. She’s driving it," he said. "I understand how much these fans love her and support her and I love that. The part that concerns me is that it has no factual basis. The personal issues that Britney is dealing with are highly complicated and the conservatorship is there for a reason. The courts of the State of California take this very seriously. I hope the people allow her to have her private time."

"I’ve been with her for two-thirds of her life," he continued. "I look at her almost like I look at my own daughter. It’s very emotional for me … and really rough. Personally, I want for her to just find a peaceful, happy place — whatever that means for her. It’s not about a career anymore — it’s about life."

"Let her be a civilian for a while. She’s given so much. Give her time," Larry concluded.
