Firefighters spent Tuesday battling a 20 acre wildfire between the towns of Tonasket and Republic.

The Toroda Mountain fire popped up Tuesday just north of Wauconda. Leaders with the Department of Natural Resources said the fire quickly grew from 20 acres to 50 acres and threatened buildings. The fire doubled in size around 5:00 p.m. to 100 acres.

DNR ordered aircrews to help with the fire due to the difficult terrain.
